Strategies for the finish line start at the beginning, are adjusted midway and only become possible at the end.
Re-focus at the end to win.
Have you ever noticed how many of your plans fall apart at the end of the project? Time is running out to get all these loose ends wrapped up and sent off for an on-time delivery, and… boom! Supplies aren’t delivered, resources are delayed, brain cells are exhausted. You realize that it’s not going to happen the way you imagined.
But that doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen and end well anyway.
The happy ending that occurs when the project is unwrapped has everything to do with focusing on what’s really necessary to create that happiness. Quite often only a few elements of the original plan were necessary for happiness and if you adjust last minute for what’s most important, happiness erupts.
If your child will be happy playing with a box, don’t give her a $300 video game machine… give her the box!
If your boss will be happy with an 8 slide presentation of the most important stuff, don’t give him 20 slides of less important stuff… give him 8!
Focus. Win. Create happiness.
