INSPIRATION: Invest in Yourself

by | Nov 9, 2015 | Insights & Inspiration

Wow, the holidays are coming fast. Can you feel them rushing at us?

Though I’m tempted to start putting myself second already, I am resisting the urge. The end of the year is actually a great time to invest in myself, personally and professionally.

Professionally, I take time to think about what I wanted to accomplish this year and work on knocking a few more things off the list, including some work on my professional development. I love to take the time when things slow down to give myself a personal homework assignment to learn something new.

Personally, I make sure to arrange the family events so that quality time is at a premium and rushing around doing stuff for stuff’s sake doesn’t make the list at all. More and more when I opt out of events that provide me and my family little more than stress, everyone seems relieved. I realize I’m actually doing us all a favor by choosing to do less but make what we do matter more. I’ve already blocked out the “good stuff” on the family calendar and everything else trying to crowd in will be severely judged.

What about you? What commitments can you make NOW to invest in yourself and what matters most in the months ahead?

Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.”― Robin S. Sharma
