Women Advancing The Workforce [nfographic]

by | Jul 14, 2014 | Across Generations, Gender Research

Although we’ve made great strides over the last hundred years in defining equality and in blurring the line between genders and their roles in society, there aren’t that many women in leadership positions.

Well the trend is finally upon us and more and more women are entering into authoritative roles all over the world. In the United States, over two-thirds of the workforce expects a large increase in female leadership in their company over the next few years. Women-owned businesses are growing significantly, with 20% more business in 2007 than there were in 2002.

It’s the economic impact of women-owned businesses in the states that’s really the eye-opening statistic: these businesses cover over 16% of all jobs in the US—that’s 23 million jobs and an annual impact of $3 trillion.

This trend is not only going to continue, but it’s going to grow exponentially. The validity behind this assertion can be extrapolated from statistics in the education sector. In the next decade, 1 billion women will enter the global economy. And the majority of new post-secondary degree holders will be.. you guessed it. Women.
