INSIGHT: Choose Your Life

by | Aug 28, 2015 | Insights & Inspiration

Roadblocks. Stupidity. Bureaucracy. Murphy. Pollen.

There are so many “good” reasons to stop banging our heads against life… Why don’t we?

Last Monday I wasn’t sure I was going to survive this week. My schedule looked like a train wreck. I had a hundred reasons to cop out of meetings, calls, deadlines and the remains of my birthday party.

But I didn’t.

Yesterday my husband told me I was crazy as I headed into Thursday’s stretch of commitments but by the end of the day, he apologized because I totally nailed it, thanks to a “be here now” attitude (and some cold medicine).

I didn’t stop because I chose this life. I chose every single thing on my schedule (and even the things that weren’t there originally but crashed the calendar party). Choice is power and choosing to do – or not do – everything in my week gives me the strength to thrive in my schedule because there is simply no one to blame but me. If I don’t want to do something, I don’t. But when I do, I do! When I “have” to do something, I simply choose to do it and then it’s not a “have to.”

Today is a downhill glide with clients – which totally fires me up, and then comes family time and a good, long sleep-in on Mother’s Day before some great celebrating.

I love the life I’ve chosen.

What about you? Can you choose everything on your schedule today? Next week? If you haven’t thought of it that way, try it out. Choice makes a hard week a life full of living.
