INSPIRATION: Just Kidding!

by | Apr 1, 2013 | Coaching Advice, Insights & Inspiration

Today’s post is a joke. Just kidding!

Humor is nothing to laugh at – it’s something to laugh with.

Laughter and smiles are good for the human body. They relax us, releasing neat little hormones that begin to heal us from the ravages of their opposite – stress.

Have you ever thought of humor as a leadership tool? Part of your job as a leader of other humans – to make a difference in the world – is to help them manage and focus their energy. You have a larger and longer view of success, so you can help them know when to relax – and help them enjoy it.

If stress isn’t necessary but your team is feeling it – help them lighten up. If you have to lighten up first, do it. Breathe. Do something silly. Take a minute to look at fuzzy kittens on Facebook, or whatever makes you smile. Then get to work making some serious fun.

What can you do today to relieve a little stress around you? In you?

The journey to the goal matters as much – and sometimes more – than the goal itself. Make it a fun trip!

When people are laughing, they’re generally not killing each other. ~Alan Alda
