INSPIRATION: Gratitude

by | Nov 19, 2012 | Coaching Advice, Insights & Inspiration

All ready for Thanksgiving on Thursday? In the U.S. we love to look forward to this day of family and food. And we love to dread a few traditions that usually come along with family and food, too.

Here’s a little secret to managing the dread and the nutty buildup at the office as we get ready for too much – or too little – of family and food.

Just let the gratitude in NOW. Three days early, start practicing the gratitude and carry it with you through the nutty buildup, and the too much or too little family and food. Pretend that whatever you’re grateful for is bigger than everything else in your life and your day, and watch the rest of it suck less of your energy as you give more to the gratitude that is giving to you.

Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. I’m oh, so grateful for you.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Melody Beattie
