INSIGHT: Gifts of the Grind

by | Jan 11, 2013 | Coaching Advice, Insights & Inspiration

What if being ground down wasn’t a demolition but a refinement?

Every difficult effort holds within it opportunities that only you can turn into a better you.

2013 is here and it’s back to the grind. I don’t know about you, but my new year is taking off with a bang! All of a sudden it’s back to long hours and new challenges I don’t have all the answers for.

Part of me rebels and wants to go back to the warm chats by the fire with my family over the holidays. Or run away to a beach somewhere.

But then I stop and remember I asked for this! Maybe I didn’t ask for every goof-up that happened this week, but I did ask for the opportunity to learn new things that would grow my business, my career and my life.

So I choose to see the grind a little differently, as the gift I asked for that can’t be delivered when I’m cozy with friends or flopped out doing nothing. I accept it for what it is and let it grind me down into something newer, better and more useful.

There’ll be time to flop out later.
