INSIGHT: Just Do It

by | Apr 26, 2013 | Coaching Advice, Insights & Inspiration

No, this isn’t a Nike ad.

Somewhere in between “I know” and “I don’t know” is where we discover our own personal line between success and failure.

It’s good to know your strengths and weaknesses and one of mine is living in the Stretch Zone. You know, the place between “I’m certain I can do that extremely well,” and “I have no idea how to do that and don’t even know what success looks like.” By practicing in the zone between these extremes, I’ve become pretty good at hearing the wisdom of my inner voice guide me into the stretch.

Even so, I keep learning that I can push myself farther and accomplish more if I’m smart about it and know how to hear when my voice of wisdom fades beneath the wavering voice of fear. Sometimes these inner voices sound almost the same, unless I stop to listen deeply.

This week, I wasn’t sure who was talking inside me so I just “did it,” and so did one of my clients. We BOTH learned that we had a little farther to push to get what we wanted.

Sometimes when we get out of our own way (or out of our own head), life has the opportunity to surprise us and we learn something new.

When in doubt, move.
