“Change is hard.”
“Nobody likes change.”
These truisms seem self-evident in our society today, but I don’t believe they’re true. I believe that people love change, when they see good things on the other side of it.
The problem is that humans are often more eager to believe the bad, the pessimistic, the scary. (Really, our brains are programmed this way!) So we tell ourselves these stories about change that scare us, frighten us, give ourselves anxiety headaches and stomach knots.
Try this experiment. Think of a change coming up this week that makes you uncomfortable. Now write out three wonderful and exciting things that MIGHT result. If you can’t think of any, you’re not thinking hard enough. Get outlandish if you have to, but allow yourself to imagine 3 wonderful somethings.

They don’t have to come true for the imagining of them to bring you joy.
Enjoy the imagining until change happens and don’t worry about the bad stuff. If it happens, you will know how to deal with it. You have lots of practice at that.
Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions. ~ Albert Einstein
