Are you squandering your rights?
In a free society, within the limits of the law, any prison you find yourself in was made by you. Other people might have handed you the bricks, but you put them in place and applied the mortar.
These kinds of prisons are built of beliefs – about ourselves, others and the world. They start as protective shelters and then, too often, we forget to build a door, or add a room when it’s time to expand our thinking. And then we get stuck inside.
The moment you realize that you can build a door as easily as you built the walls, the prison transforms. No longer holding you in, your beliefs can unleash you, support you, hold you up to the sky.
What do you believe about freedom?
“Freedom is what you do with what’s been done to you.” Jean-Paul Sartre
