INSPIRATION: “Work” Is Not Always “Labor”

by | Sep 3, 2012 | Coaching Advice, Insights & Inspiration

Happy Labor Day!

WHO GIVES WORK A BAD NAME?

You have a little joy-meter living inside you that is almost never set at “neutral.” Things can be tough on the job, and your joy meter can still be switched to high. Why?

Learning. Growth. Challenge. Accomplishment. Excitement. Comraderie. Stretch. Win. ______ (you fill in the blank)

When your joy-meter is sagging over to the not-so-joyful side, what’s going on?

Stagnation. Boredom. Defeatism. Negativity. Lose-lose. Shame. Complaining. Fear. ________ (you know what to do.)

Only you know where your joy-meter is each day when you show up for work. Only you can do something about it. The moment you take responsibility for your joy-meter is the moment you gain control over it.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  ― Confucius

Don’t spend a moment longer than you have to with your joy-meter sagging on a regular basis. Deep breath. Act.
